Zaina Lodge DEALS
Last Updated on February 24, 2023 by Kwame Hagan
A vast savannah lies in the north western part of Ghana. Within the area is Larabanga, a historic town that serves as the entrance to Ghana’s largest wildlife refuge, Mole National Park. In the heart of this much-frequented park lies a charming slice of paradise called the Zaina Lodge.
Being the first of its kind luxury safari resort in West Africa, Zaina Lodge earns an apt reputation as the perfect holiday destination – offering traditional rustic charm. It’s therefore not surprising that award-winning investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, described the place as the citadel of luxury after spending his honeymoon at the facility.
The Hotel has consistently been voted one of the best in Ghana, and while the list of treatments stand out, it’s the scenery and allure that really make it.
A Different Kind of Luxury at Zaina Lodge
Zaina Lodge does not offer the contemporary luxury you’re used to in big cities. It creatively presents something different and appealing. The hotel exudes old-school glamour. Much, if not all, of the place is thatched in classic northern Ghanaian architecture style – depicting an aspect of their way of life.
In the face of the obvious luxury, the facility provides a dazzlingly rustic haven with its outstanding natural scenery. This is an irresistible, authentic, and one-of-a-kind luxury every nature lover would love to experience, at least once in a lifetime.
Providing only 25 detached chalet tents, Zaina Lodge offers an exclusive environment with breath-taking views overlooking the vast Mole National Park.
Unlike the typical hotel setting where all rooms are contained in one main building, all chalets are isolated from one another at Zaina Lodge, offering guests the maximum privacy they need.
The chalets look ordinary from the outside, but the inside tells a completely different story – with each providing all the benefits of staying in a luxury hotel plus a location right in the wild.
Each chalet is furnished with a comfy queen-sized bed, air-condition, ceiling fan, study table and lamp, television, DSTV, indoor and outdoor shower facilities, among others. The balcony, at dusk, gives the perfect spot to watch the sun set over the green/dry vegetation.
One obvious fact you cannot disregard is that good food is always a feature of a pleasant holiday. And I believe that is why Zaina Lodge goes the extra mile to present a wide-ranging dishes designed to cater for even the avid foodie.
Food at Zaina Lodge is something of a treat, and the ‘waakye’ I tasted upon arrival was above all mouth-watering. The key draw is the undeviating view overlooking giant elephants drink from the waterholes that lie beneath the restaurant. This clearly defines the meaning of the phrase ‘dining with a view.’
The hotel’s food is terrific. Both the local and continental foods are served with real panache. However, I am unable to recommend any particular dish, as all the foods I tasted while staying as guest were delectable – satisfying my taste buds.
Things to Do While At Zaina Lodge
Staying at Zaina Lodge for days and spending time in the infinity pool alone without going anywhere is a pure bliss. But getting out and about will definitely prove a real joy.
Go on Different Safari Tours
Spending considerable amount of time spotting animals in their natural habitat is one of the key attractions of Zaina Lodge for many visitors. As well as being a delight in itself, these tours will allow you to explore different areas of the national park whilst gaining in-depth knowledge of the animals.
Zaina Lodge provides different safari tours, including:
- Morning and Afternoon Walking Safari,
- Spotlight ‘Night’ Game Drive,
- Morning & Afternoon Driving Safari, and
- A day in the life of an elephant or game ranger.
Community Tour Shouldn’t Be Missed
The historic town of Larabanga has been drawing thousands of visitors from across different parts of the world for many years. Nicknamed by several tourists as the ‘Mecca of West Africa,’ the age-old Larabanga mosque is a must-visit site.
You could also go for a canoeing adventure on the Mole River.
